Does My Child Need ADHD Medication?
While medication can be helpful, it’s not the only option. It is important to talk with your child’s doctor about concerns, side effects, and alternatives to find the best approach for them to manage their diagnosis.
What is the Difference Between a 504 and IEP
If your child is a student, there are two different programs that may assist them in school, which are a 504 and an IEP. These programs do require a doctor’s diagnosis. An IEP program usually has added instruction and services, and a 504 is usually more about accommodations. Some examples of school-related accommodations are different seating options within a classroom, visual support aids, written notes versus verbal instructions, the ability to get up from a chair and move around more frequently, more breaks during seated testing, leniency with deadlines, etc. Most schools have a designed program already and accommodations they already offer. Just ask what is in place currently. If your child needs something different than what they offer, you can request an accommodation to be added.
